Born and raised in Johannesburg, South, Zane completed his degree in Live Performance at AFDA, Braamfontein, in 2018, kicking off his career as an MC at corporate and social events.

Zane Gulston is now a renowned brand and has become a radio presenter, interviewer, public speaker, and influencer, among his many other talents.

        Mr. Gulston, as one of SA's popular DJs, your music and sets often define the atmosphere of an event. How would you describe your approach to crafting the perfect playlist?

        - I believe music is a journey, be it a song or even when mixing; it's like you need to take the set in a journey mindset for the atmosphere to be affected. That's how I curate my perfect playlist.

        Your performances are often described as having an electrifying and infectious energy. Could you share some techniques that keep the crowd grooving all night?

        - I always keep my ear on the ground to what people are currently enjoying, but whilst doing that, a nostalgic throwback every here and there amplifies the energy tremendously. People loooove' old-school songs, especially stuff they would have never thought to hear at an event or live lol.

        Because ellesse enjoys blending style and music, how would you incorporate the two into your personal style and set?

        - Well, I love to mix a bit of what's expected with a good surprise. I often range between music from old to new, which talks to blending; that mix creates an experience that you can't really replicate.

        What would you say has influenced you most as a DJ, and how does that affect your sound and style as a DJ?

        - My influence stems from changing the energy in a room. From my background as an MC & A DJ now, it's definitely my pushing factor. Changing the energy, letting the people enjoy that hour with me on stage and forget about whatever worries them for that few is everything to me. It's our duty as entertainers to do just that. Distract & entertain.

        Summer is a playful and upbeat season, often inspiring joy, laughter and fun. How will your 'Sounds of Summer' set tie into the season while capturing the essence of the ellesse brand?

        - I think the mix I curated is perfect for a long drive to the family or friends & perfect for a road trip! Keeps building the mood and brings the party to wherever you listen/watch it from.
